Lamp building workshop

Want to design and build your own lamp or take one apart and make it totally different?

You can in this two-day workshop. During the first session you’ll design your lamp for its function (spot, task, general or artisan lighting) and select wire, switch, lamp bulbs, sockets, power supplies and shades as needed. There are thousands of different shapes, powers and sizes of bulbs to choose from, but we’ll focus upon incandescent, fluorescent, halogen and LED bulbs. In session two you will build your lamp. You can use found objects, wood, metal or other raw material. Or bring a lamp and repurpose it or tear it apart to salvage the components and build a different one. You will learn about safe and proper wiring.

Oddball and creative designs are highly recommended.
