Home Framing Made Fun

Date and Time:
Mar 9 2009 - 6:00pm - Mar 9 2009 - 8:00pm
Location:
Leonardo's Basement 4301 Nicollet Ave Minneapolis, MN 55409
Fee:
$80 for two sessions. Materials fee to be paid to the artists during class will be $25 and up depending on the the framing materials you will select.
As custom framing grows harder to fit into our already stretched out budgets, and our favorite pictures remain lodged in iPhoto, wouldn't it be great to learn how to frame your art/photos yourself?
Lay down your thumbtacks and come to this workshop! Learn the basics of archival matting and framing, as well as shadowboxing your mementos and curiosities. Bring an item you'd like to frame, no larger than 11 x 14.

Take home a beautiful, finished, framed piece. Two sessions: 1) matting, measuring, designing. 2) frame construction, glass cutting, assembly. A range of frame styles and prices will be available to choose from during class.

Instructor: Westy Copeland

Westy Copeland is a Twin Cities artist who made her living by framing other peoples' art for over 15 years. She has framed everything you can imagine, including real Picassos, fake Matisses, a set of golf clubs, several wedding dresses, pieces of an airplane, fishing lures, Javanese puppets, wildlife art, kids art, her art, thousands of photographs, and many other items too crazy to remember here!

Anyway, before Westy became a framer, she got a Master's in Printmaking out in the East........now she chases her kids around her studio with a dripping paintbrush.
